Picture Quality

Overall, picture quality of LG UH6150 is below average, even for its class, it is also not so good. This is due black level and contrast ratio produced by it is very poor, even for IPS TVs. As the note, the deepest black level reached by UH6150 is about 0.2 nits with native contrast ratio about 500:1. The poor black level and contrast also was compounded by low peak brightness that is about 180 nits. But fortunately, although it doesn’t support wide color gamut that required for displaying HDR fully, its color still look very saturated when displaying SDR contents. So, there is a positive side of display specs produced by LG UH6150. The result, dark performance is very poor. Dark scenes that should looks black, it will look tend to grey on the screen of UH6150.

LG UH6150

Additionally, the other positive point of LG UH6150 series is about their performance when up-scaling lower resolution to near 4K quality. It is still needed considering most of the contents that available in the market still have lower resolution than 4K. And with great UHD Up-scaling performance offered by them, of course this allows to enjoy them in 4K quality sharply and clearly. Even for far lower resolution like DVDs with 480p, once it is up-scaled, the final images produced looks sharp and clear with small details preserved well. And the higher resolution of video sources like HD contents of full HD contents, the result certainly is much sharper and clearer with a lot of small details preserved more.

Motion Blur and 24p Playback

Motion handling is also the strong point that offered by LG UH6150 series. Its pixel response time is very low and it is very good when displaying fast moving images like fast movies or sports program. The result, there is a little motion blur or even almost no blur noticeable behind fast moving objects. In other hand, UH6150 series is also a good performer when used for playing 24p movies from Blu-ray where it offers judder-free. But even so, it is only limited on native 24p contents from Blu-Ray, while 24p via 60i signals like movies from satellite TV or via 60p signals like movies from streaming media, judder cannot be removed completely. Fortunately, most of people don’t notice about judder so it should not be a big problem for them.

LG UH6150As its major connectivity, LG UH6150 is equipped with 3 HDMI ports. This amount may be less than most of TVs at higher class, but I think it is quite enough to cover your other HD Devices. Nevertheless, they are already support what required for HDMI connection at this time like HDCP 2.2, Audi Return Channel, CEC, and more. Additionally, there are also AV In (Composite In) and Component In where they can be used to connect your old devices on your TV which don’t have HDMI ports. In addition to them, there are still Ethernet, RF IN, Digital Audio Out optical, and more.  But unfortunately, there is only 1 HDMI port where it certainly is very limited, especially when you want to connect more than 1 at once of your other devices which require USB connections.

Smart TV

One of the flagships of LG UH6150 series as entry level TV is about its smart TV platform, where with WebOS 3.0 as its platform, it offers very responsive and attractive smart TV platform. As we know, WebOS 3.0 is the best smart TV platform in 2016. In addition to it has very simple layout design, it also very fast and responsive. The loading time of an app is felt very fast once you launch it. Additionally, selecting between apps is also felt very responsive with navigating between different menus is straightforward. The other advantage of WebOS is about apps provided where apps which are available are very complete and diverse. There are premium VoD services apps like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos, HuluPlus, and many more, Web browser, LG’ Contents and apps store, and many more including default features and apps by LG.
